start with the brief

Explain the next tap

Let’s Pay App needed onboarding language for the person making a payment. I wrote around the concern of getting the next action wrong. Calm instructions and a clear account of what happens next gave the flow its tone.

The person on the other side

People starting to use a payment app, especially those who want reassurance about what happens next.

where the words had to work

What the words had to get right

Money raises the stakes of a small instruction. The writing needed to explain the next action clearly enough that reassurance came from understanding what would happen.

the thinking behind the sentences

The decisions inside the draft

I centred the onboarding on the user’s immediate questions. The copy needed to be useful at the moment of action, rather than tell the whole company story.

Calm, direct instructions kept the flow readable. Friendly language supported that clarity, especially where a user might hesitate.

In payment copy, a clear instruction is often the most reassuring sentence.
